An Encounter That Changes You

Moving from knowing about God to truly knowing Him

A person sits in a sunlit living room holding an open Bible. The page is open to the Book of Job, showing the verse “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You” from Job 42:5. The room includes framed artwork, a lamp, a plant, and a table with books and a notebook. A park with trees is visible through the window.

Deeper Revelation

Job’s words mark a turning point—not because he finally received answers, but because he encountered God in a deeper way. Scripture is clear that Job was righteous and faithful (Job 1:1). He honored God, spoke rightly about Him, and walked with integrity. Yet like all of us, his understanding was shaped by human limits. What changed was not Job’s faithfulness, but the depth of his awareness of who God is.

When God draws near, everything shifts. Job doesn’t say, “Now I understand why everything happened.” He simply says, “Now I see You.” This kind of revelation doesn’t explain life—it transforms the heart. Faith moves from being informed by what we know about God to being grounded in a personal encounter with Him.

Real-Life Faith

Many people walk through seasons where explanations fall short. A prayer goes unanswered. Grief lingers longer than expected. A job is lost, or a door you believed God would open remains firmly closed. In those moments, information about God can feel thin. Yet those are often the very places where God reveals His nearness in ways knowledge alone never could.

It’s not about having all the pieces of the story; it’s about discovering that God is present in the middle of it. Job’s story affirms anyone who has wrestled, questioned, or waited and still found themselves reaching for God. Faith matures not because everything makes sense, but because God meets us where clarity can’t. That encounter becomes the anchor—personal, steady, and deeply real.

Step Forward

Today is an invitation to move from hearing to seeing. Not by forcing understanding, but by opening your heart to the God who reveals Himself in His timing and His way. Ask Him to make Himself known—not through explanations, but through His presence.

Reflection Questions

  • Where have I been relying more on information about God than personal connection with Him

  • How has God met me in ways that didn’t come through explanations

  • What would it look like to invite God to reveal Himself more personally today

God, draw me closer to You. Move my faith from something I’ve heard to something I’ve truly experienced. Help me recognize Your presence even when I don’t have answers. Let my heart see You in new and deeper ways. Amen.
