Let Your Motives Move You

People in a school hallway perform kind acts, with glowing hearts and text like "Act of Kindness Friday" and "Motive-Moved Kindness."
“Serve one another humbly in love.” Galatians 5:13 (NIV)

⭐Kindness That Comes From a Changed Motive

This week wasn’t about comparison or confidence — it was about what drives you. You looked at the motives behind your reactions. You saw how Jesus chose service over status, humility over recognition, and love over convenience. You learned that selflessness is the real win, even when it costs you something. And yesterday, you held up the mirror and told the truth about what’s happening inside your heart. Today is where motive becomes movement.

⭐ Do One Act That Costs You Something

Choose one person and do one act of kindness that requires you to let go of:

  • Comfort

  • Image

  • Control

This is not about being noticed. This is not about being impressive. This is about practicing the selflessness you’ve been learning.

Examples (Choose ONE):

If your struggle is COMFORT:

• Give someone your time when you’d rather rush

• Help with something inconvenient

• Let someone else choose the plan, seat, or spot

If your struggle is IMAGE:

• Encourage someone privately without needing credit

• Apologize first

• Admit you were wrong or too quick to react

If your struggle is CONTROL:

• Let someone else lead

• Support someone else’s idea

• Step back and let someone shine

Your act of kindness should target the motive you identified on Day 4. This makes the kindness personal, intentional, and rooted in growth — not random or repetitive.

⭐ WHY THIS MATTERS

Selfishness protects what’s comfortable and what’s eternal. Today’s act of kindness is not about doing something “nice.” It’s about practicing the Jesus-way you’ve been studying:

  • Serving

  • Yielding

  • Honoring

  • Letting go

  • Choosing the better win

This is kindness that transforms you while blessing someone else.

⭐ REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  • Which motive (comfort, image, control) is God asking me to surrender today

  • Who can I bless in a way that stretches me

  • What does selflessness look like in this moment

Lord, thank You for revealing what’s been shaping my reactions. Today, help me choose the selfless way — even when it costs me something. Let my act of kindness reflect Your heart, not my comfort. Shape me into someone who serves with humility and loves with intention. Amen.
