⭐The Power of Volume

Every voice in your life has a volume level. Some are loud and demanding, while others whisper doubt or stir confusion. And whether you realize it or not, the people closest to you have their hands on the volume knobs, shaping what gets amplified inside you.


Proverbs 13:20 reminds us that wisdom is contagious—but so is foolishness. The people you stay close to don’t just influence you; they adjust the levels of what you hear, feel, and believe. One conversation can turn up anxiety or turn up courage. One friend can turn up clarity or turn up chaos. That’s volume. That’s influence.


The people you stay close to shape your sound, and the sound they shape influences the direction you take.


⭐Who Has Their Hand on Your Controls?

Imagine your life like a mixing board, and every relationship has its own slider. Some people quietly turn up fear without even meaning to, while others unintentionally turn up comparison until you can’t hear your own confidence anymore. There are people who naturally turn up faith just by being in the room, and others who turn up peace because their presence settles your spirit.


But there are also relationships that turn up confusion, making everything feel louder and harder to navigate, while a few rare ones turn up purpose, helping you see your life with clarity. Whether you notice it or not, the people closest to you are adjusting the levels of your internal sound, shaping the atmosphere of your heart.


⭐Volume Check

Take a moment to notice who has the loudest access to your heart right now. Think about the friend who consistently turns up the right things in you, the one whose encouragement or wisdom shifts your whole internal atmosphere. Then consider the person who tends to turn up the wrong things, stirring anxiety, insecurity, or distraction.


Pay attention to who helps you hear God more clearly, because their presence brings clarity instead of noise. And be honest about who makes everything feel louder and more chaotic, even if you care about them deeply. Finally, notice the ones who bring peace, direction, and steadiness—the people who help tune your sound toward wisdom.


⭐Reflection Questions

• Whose voice has been the loudest in my life lately

• What has that voice been turning up in me

• What needs to be turned down for the sake of my peace

• Who helps me hear God more clearly

• Who may need less access to my internal controls

Lord, help me recognize the voices that are shaping my life. Show me who turns up wisdom and who turns up confusion. Give me the courage to adjust the volume of my relationships so I can hear You clearly. Amen.
