Your Seat at the Table

Belonging in Christ

You don’t earn your place — you’re welcomed into it.

A group of people sit around an outdoor dining table sharing a meal. String lights hang above them, and buildings and greenery surround the space. Text on the image reads “Your Seat at the Table — Belonging in Christ,” with Ephesians 2:19–20 printed at the bottom.
“Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone.” ~ Ephesians 2:19–20 (NKJV)

Family Belonging

Paul describes a change in identity: you are no longer distant or disconnected. You are now part of God’s household. The language is relational and rooted in belonging. Jesus echoes this same reality when He says, “In My Father’s house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2–3). His words confirm what Paul teaches — God’s people have a place with Him because Christ makes room for them.

Paul also shows that this household has a foundation already set. The apostles and prophets carried God’s message, and Christ Himself is the cornerstone. Everything is aligned to Him. Your place in God’s household rests on Christ, not on what you do.

Belonging Lived

Belonging shapes how you see yourself. When Scripture says you are part of God’s household, it means you are not on the outside looking in. You are included. You are known. You are placed where Christ has brought you.

This belonging also steadies your freedom. Yesterday’s reminder to stand in liberty is strengthened by today’s reminder that you stand within a family God Himself built. You live from the identity Christ gives, not from insecurity or striving.

Belonging Practiced

Today, let the truth of your place in God’s household guide your steps. Live from the security Christ provides. Let your choices flow from belonging, not from trying to earn acceptance. Walk through your day knowing you are welcomed and held in His family.
